Jiaqi (Kino) Shen is a PhD Candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Melbourne. As a former mechanical design engineer at a product design consultancy, Kino has a practical background in developing medical devices under ISO 13485 QMS standards. His current research interest is in cartilage mechanobiology, focusing on the design of novel bioreactor systems for cartilage tissue engineering. Kino is interested in how practical industrial design principles can be adapted for biomedical research environments, aiming to progress early-stage benchtop innovations into real-world applications.
