Inside the Future of Surgery Show 2026Â
This week, I had the pleasure of exhibiting at The Future of Surgery Show 2026, representing Test Labs for the first time. The event hosted clinical and surgical professionals from across the NHS, exploring exhibitors from MedTech and healthcare companies. The panel discussions and talks throughout the day highlighted growing new developments in healthcare and MedTech, and this event encapsulated the innovation seen in the future of hospitals and MedTech.Â
MedTech and Healthcare Collaboration
For us, the event was a great opportunity to connect with professionals across the NHS. Handing out our latest Outlooks, answering queries and discussing the importance of robust testing and validation of medical devices to enhance patient safety was a shared aim. I learnt about different perspectives across the NHS including sustainability in operating theatres, the rise in technological innovation in the NHS particularly with the use of AI or the challenges experienced and it all led back to the importance of medical and healthcare professionals collaborating and conversing with each other to learn more.Â
How AI and Robotics Are Transforming Surgery
I also listened to the Panel Discussion: Scaling Surgical Innovation: Robotics, AI, and the Next Generation of Digital Surgery featuring insights from Ricky Bhogal, Ankur Mukherjee and Shantanu Rout. This discussion explored the use of AI in healthcare, particularly in digital surgery and how emerging technologies are reshaping decision-making and clinical practice. The speakers explored it’s uses in training environments and in decision-making scenarios and how it can help surgeons prepare and operate. It was interesting and insightful to listen to industry professionals reflect on this and inspire us to think about this too
The Role of Medical Device Testing in Patient Safety
This event showed how central innovation has become to the future of healthcare. Conversations about robotics and AI emphasised the need for being compliant and having a continued focus on patient safety. Likewise, the importance on rigorous testing and validation for medical devices was also highlighted in our conversations. As the collaboration between MedTech and healthcare continues to grow the importance of innovation means being compliant and evidence-driven which helps shape the future of both industries.Â
