We invite you to learn more about Bryan.
What do you do at Test Labs?
As part of the quality and compliance team, I focus on process improvements across the business. This includes developing process maps and conducting gap analyses to identify areas for improvement. Aside from this, I perform internal audits on key functions such as Sales, Accounts, Operations and Post-service provision to ensure commitment to existing standards and policies. Moreover, I’m responsible in monitoring and tracking audit findings and working closely with relevant team members to ensure timely and effective closure of action items.
Where did your interest in quality stem from?
I think my interest in quality stemmed from my inclination toward structure and continuous improvement. During my school days, I always assumed leadership roles and I have been drawn to understanding how things worked and identifying ways to make them better. When I started working, I was exposed to industries such as in the water and pharmaceutical industry and saw firsthand how critical quality is.
Have you always wanted to work in quality management?
Not initially – I was more interested in working on the operations side of the organisation. But over time, I encountered situations that showed me just how critical quality and compliance are in keeping things running smoothly. I found it really rewarding to be part of shaping processes that teams rely on to work more efficiently and consistently.
What would your advice be for someone thinking of working in the quality sector?
I think developing a mindset of curiosity and continuous improvement is vital for someone thinking of working in the quality sector. In quality, you’re not just looking for what’s wrong – you’re trying to understand why it happened and how to prevent it in the future. To be able to prevent these, you should be comfortable asking the “why” behind processes, outcomes, and even assumptions. Root cause analysis is a key skill, and it starts with learning to question things constructively. It’s also important to stay open to feedback and to see every issue as an opportunity to strengthen the system, not assign blame.
What are you looking forward to most about working at Test Labs?
I’m really looking forward to being part of a team that’s driven by a culture of collaboration, quality and continuous improvement. Test Labs as I can see is an organisation which supports all of these. I’m excited about contributing to meaningful work that supports compliance, enhances processes, and ultimately makes a tangible difference. I’m also looking forward to learning from others in the team, growing my own skill set, and being involved in projects that challenge me to think critically and improve outcomes.
